Saudi Contractors Authority to make SAR 52 mln from registration fee

Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) expects to record SAR 52 million from the mandatory registration fees of Saudi contracting companies, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Thabit Al-Swaid, secretary-general of the authority.

The fees were set in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and were approved by SCA’s general meeting, Al-Swaid said, adding that the companies' registration rate will reach 100 percent by the fifth year of the Contractor Search Program, which was launched in January 2018.

The fee is determined by the number of workers in a company. It starts at SAR 750 for contractors with no more than five employees and SAR 1,500 for contractors with five to 50 workers.

Establishments that have 50 to 250 workers will pay a fee of SAR 5,000 while major contracting companies with a labor force of more than 250 workers will pay SAR 10,000.

Last year, SCA said a package of reforms will be launched, including a membership benefits scheme and a database for identifying contractors and the reforms will be implemented gradually during the year.
