Mashroat submits study for Saudi contracting sector to High Commission

A comprehensive study for the obstacles facing the contracting sector in Saudi Arabia was submitted to the Saudi High Commission to increase the sector’s efficiency and promote its role, the National Program to Support the Management of Projects in Public Entities’ “Mashroat” Director General Ahmed Albalawi told Okaz newspaper.

He added that the study was prepared with the participation of the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers and the Saudi Contractors Authority.

This is in addition to a proposal that is being studied by a number of Ministries, including the Finance, Economy and Planning, Municipal and Rural Affairs. It is about establishing a body that is responsible for the short- and long-term central plans to give the needed supervision to the entities and monitoring the implementation of plans.

During an orientation about Mashroat, Albalawi pointed that establishing a central body for the management of projects is ineffective, as it requires 13,000 employees to manage these projects, with the governmental projects’ portfolio reaching SAR 200 billion annually.
