Prices of construction materials in Saudi Arabia rose in H1 2018, led by prices of cables, which rose 18 percent year-on-year (YoY).

 

Steel prices climbed 14 percent YoY to SAR 2,250.5 per ton in H1 2018, compared to SAR 2,242 per ton a year earlier, data issued by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Cement prices edged up by 0.2 percent YoY, while wood prices rose 6 percent YoY for the period.

 

Meanwhile, ready-mix concrete prices dropped 5 percent YoY to an average of SAR 175.71 per cubic meter.

Steel prices rose on a year-on-year (YoY) basis throughout the first six months of 2018, with March seeing the highest increase of 13 percent YoY to SAR 2,563 per ton.

Cement prices were the lowest in June at SAR 12.68 per 50-kilogram bag, down 1 percent YoY.
