Saudi Arabia’s Haramain high-speed rail, set to start commercial operations in October, has the capacity to transport 160,000 passengers a day and around 60 million passengers a year, Al-Eqtisadiah reported, citing Rumaih Al Rumaih, Chairman of the Public Transport Authority (PTA).
The two-way rail, which will be running at 300-kilometers per hour, has 35 trains and over 460 carriages, he said.
In addition to stations, the project includes comprehensive services and supportive health and security utilities, in addition to helicopter landing sites.
