Flights from Jeddah to all domestic destinations will be operated through the new King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) starting mid-2019, Saudi Gazette reported, citing the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

The new airport started experimental operations in June 2018.

“It is not an unusual practice to operate the airport partially. This is rather an international practice," GACA said.

The airport is designed to serve about 30 million passengers annually. It has five lounges for the first class and business class passengers. Two of them will serve international flights, two for domestic flights and the fifth will be for transit passengers.
