Dow Jones ends higher, trims weekly losses
US indices closed Friday in green, amid a decline in the 10-year Treasury yields as well as fading concerns about economic slowdown and strong appetite for risk assets.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.15%, or 51points, to settle at 39,497 points,cutting its weekly loss to 0.6%.
The S&P 500 index added0.45%, or 24 points, to 5,344 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.5%, or 85 points, to 16,745 points.
As for European markets, the STOXX Europe 600 inched up 0.55% to 499.1 points.
The German DAX index advanced 0.25% to 17,722 points, and the French CAC 40 index edged up0.3% to 7,269 points.The British FTSE index also ended 0.3% higher at 8,168 points.
The Nikkei index rose 0.55%, or 193 points, to 35,025 points, and the broader Topix index added 0.9% to 2,483 points.
Brent crude futures for October delivery increased 0.65%, or $0.50, to $79.66 a barrel.
Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crudefutures for September delivery added 0.85%, or $0.65, to $76.84 per barrel.
Regarding gold, futures prices for December delivery rose by 0.4%, or $10.10, to $2,473.4per ounce.
