Consortium led by subsidiary of SISCO, Amiantit preferred bidder for Saudi sewage plant projects

Saudi Arabian Amiantit Co. and Saudi Industrial Services Co. (SISCO) announced that the best-bidder consortium was awarded, on Aug. 25, the Madinah, Buraydah and Tabuk Independent Sewage Plant projects by Saudi Water Partnership Co. (SWPC), according to two separate bourse statements.
The winning consortium comprises Amiantit’s 50%-owned subsidiary, International Water Distribution Co. (TAWZEA) with a 35% stake, Spanish firm Acciona (35%) and Tamasuk (30%).
Upon final award of the project, the consortium will finance, develop, design, build, operate and maintain the plants and then transfer the ownership on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
This will be in addition to the construction of infrastructure and related facilities under the 25-year contract.
The company, which will be established for the Madinah Independent Sewage Plant project, will treat the full capacity of the wastewater supplied to the company, with capacity of up to 200,000 cubic meters per day.
The new entity, which will be incorporated for the Tabuk and Buraydah projects, will have a capacity of treating the full wastewater supplied to the company, with capacity of up to 150,000 cubic meters per day for Buraydah and 90,000 cubic meters per day for Tabuk.
SISCO will announce any updates regarding the project and financial impact on its financials once the contract is awarded.
According to data compiled by Argaam, SISCO and Amiantit own 50% of TAWZEA, amounting to SAR 146 million.
