SABIC signs MoU with SPIMACO to develop Kingdom’s active pharmaceutical ingredient industry

Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), through NUSANED™, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliances Corp. (SPIMACO) to support localization of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) industry in the Kingdom.

According to the company, the role of NUSANED™ will be through the support provided by SABIC technology centers, which provide technical support and solutions for the development and production of some APIs and raise the plant’s operating efficiency. NUSANED™ will provide an advanced training to enhance the capabilities of labor force at the plant.

Abdullah Al-Arifi, SABIC Vice President, Local Content and Business Development Unit, said this cooperation paves the way for enhancing the value chain in the Kingdom’s pharmaceutical industries, and finding specialized solutions for pharmaceutical industries through focusing on sustainability to support localization in this vital sector and help the Kingdom become a global export platform.
