Crown Prince, BIE Secretary-General review Saudi Arabia’s bid to host World Expo 2030

Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received the Secretary-General of Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes, in Riyadh.

During the meeting, Crown Prince Mohammed and Kerkentzes discussed the Kingdom’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, with the attendance of Fahad Al-Rasheed, President of Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Last September, the deadline for submitting bids to organize Expo 2030 expired, where the BIE, based in Paris, France, announced that four countries submitted their official files to host this important event, led by Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), in addition to South Korea (Busan), Italy (Rome) and Ukraine (Odessa), according to data compiled by Argaam.

On March 28, Saudi Arabia began its promotional campaign to host the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, during the closing ceremony held at the Kingdom's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The campaign follows Crown Prince's announcement on Oct. 29, 2021, that Riyadh submitted an official bid to host the World Expo 2030 under the theme “The Era of Change: Leading the planet to a Foresighted Tomorrow”.
