Here are details of amendments to Excise Tax Law Executive Regulations

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's flag

The Official Gazette Umm Al Qura published on Feb. 24 the Executive Regulations of the Excise Tax Law.

Under the amended regulations, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) Governor may approve postponing the import tax due on the person obligated to pay it within 45 days maximum.

The authority designates a place for disposal of non-consumable excise goods. It is a place related to a government entity in the Kingdom to get rid of these goods. This place should have an integrated management system, including the possibility of keeping e-documents, video surveillance systems and an accurate system including security and control measures.

The authority may also require other administrative measures as per the terms and conditions of licensing the places designated for disposal of non-consumable excise goods.

The authority shall refund the tax paid on excise goods offered in the Kingdom, which are or become non-consumable, for the persons registered for excise tax purposes.
