RCRC extends bid deadline for new line at Riyadh Metro until Feb. 15: Report

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) extended the deadline for submitting bids for a new line at the Riyadh Metro project until Feb. 15, MEED reported.

The RCRC first issued the request for prequalification notice last October and had set the initial deadline for Oct. 16, 2023.

Three consortiums are competing for the project. The first consortium consists of Alstom (France), Freysinnet Contracting (Saudi Arabia), WeBuild (Italy), FCC (Spain), and Nesma (Saudi Arabia).

The second consortium includes Siemens (Germany), Samsung C+T (South Korea), Acciona (Spain), and Alayuni (Saudi Arabia). Meanwhile, the third includes Hitachi Rail (Japan), Daewoo (South Korea), Hyundai E&C (South Korea), Gulermak (Turkey), and Albawani (Saudi Arabia).

MEED previously reported that the new line, Line 7, would be executed over two phases. The first phase includes the construction of a 65-kilometer-long metro line, connecting Qiddiya Entertainment City, King Abdullah International Gardens, King Salman Park, Misk City, and Diriyah Gate.

This phase consists of 19 stations: 14 underground and five overground.

Phase two, which is still in the planning stage, will connect Diriyah Gate to New Murabba and King Khaled International Airport.
