POS weekly transactions rise to SAR 14.5B: SAMA
POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 14.47 billion in the week ended May 4, up from nearly SAR 10.85 billion in the previous week.

The number of POS transactions reached about 214.54 million last week, according to data issued by SAMA.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

Sales value rose in all sectors last week, led by the clothing & footwear sector with a 51% weekly increase. The telecommunications sector came in second (47%), followed by the the food & beverage (F&B) sector (40%).
Consumer spending was focused on the F&B sector, totaling SAR 2.42 billion during the week. The restaurants and cafes sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 2.09 billion, as follows:
