Initial phase of logistics centers plan elapsed: Transport Minister

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser stated the initial phase of the logistics centers plan was elapsed, as the vision became clear regarding the number and locations of logistics zones.

Speaking at the Supply Chain and Logistics Conference 2024, Al-Jasser emphasized that Saudi Arabia is steadily progressing toward establishing 59 logistics zones by 2030.

He highlighted establishing numerous logistics zones, citing contracts for 18 port-based logistics zones with combined investments exceeding SAR 10 billion.

Saudi Arabia reinforced its position in global supply chains through substantial developments in the logistics sector that played a crucial role in overcoming global challenges and crises.

Al-Jasser emphasized Saudi Arabia's significant role in streamlining global supply chains and building the essential infrastructure to ensure the flow of goods and commodities in the region.

Saudi Arabia leveraged its robust logistical capabilities, advanced network of regional and international airports, efficient ports, as well as modern rail and road infrastructure, the minister said. He added that this strategic advantage significantly accelerated shipping, handling, exports, and global market connectivity.

Saudi Arabia remains committed to further enhancing its logistics capabilities to expedite exports and strengthen supply chains. It also aims to advance in global logistics indicators, as well as expand maritime and airfreight operations, according to Al-Jasser.

He added that the Kingdom also seeks to boost its rail freight capacity, activate logistics centers to drive sustainable development, and solidify its position as a global logistics hub and a vital link in global supply chains.

According to a statement received by Argaam, the conference witnessed the signing of 86 agreements on its first day to boost supply chain performance.

The conference also featured 12 keynote speeches, an exhibition for 65 international and local companies, and eight specialized workshops.
