Alwaleed: World’s highest tower construction is making progress

The construction of the world’s highest tower is making impressive progress and its sixth floor should be built by the end of this year, said Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC).

With a cost of SAR 4.6 billion, the Kingdom Tower project will stand at more than 1,000 meters tall on an area of 85,000 square meters.

The luxuriously designed building will hold 170 stories, including a 200-room Four Seasons hotel, 318 residential units, and 121 serviced apartments.

It will include spas, gyms, restaurants, and two sky lobbies with the world’s highest observation deck located on a 655-meter platform with a view of the Red Sea from Jeddah’s skyline.

Prince Alwaleed’s comments came when visited the construction site on Wednesday along with Talal Ibrahim Al Maiman, chief executive of Kingdom Real Estate Development Company, and a board member of KHC.

Al Maiman pointed out that the vertical concrete walls of the lower second and third floors have already been completed.

The tower, which aims to reposition Jeddah at the forefront of high-profile cities, is located in The Kingdom City in Obhor north of Jeddah. 

Earlier this year, the company announced that it would use the biggest and tallest custom-made cranes for the construction of the Kingdom Tower.
