Saudi Arabia set to build 25,000 new homes in Makkah

Saudi Arabia’s housing ministry is planning to launch 11 projects in Makkah, with nine off-plan units, to provide 25,000 homes, Okaz daily reported on Monday, citing Saif Al-Swailem, the ministry spokesperson.

The new developments will be implemented under a public-private partnership model.

Al-Swailem said that the ministry has started marketing two projects, adding another two will be offered for booking by the end of this year along with other five in 2018.

Commenting on white land fees in Makkah, he said that evaluation processes of registered plots of land are ongoing to determine taxable plots.

New fees are expected to be imposed in Makkah no later than November 19, 2017.

The Saudi government had earlier unveiled a plan to build more than 120,000 housing products under a partnership with private developers in 2018, Argaam reported.
