Saudi Arabia to request extradition of corruption suspects living abroad

Saudi Arabia will request the extradition of corruption suspects living abroad under its anti-corruption campaign, which targeted dozens of princes, top businessmen, and government officials, Public Prosecutor Shaikh Saud Mubarak Al Mujeb told Arrajol magazine on Thursday.

Competent authorities are gathering evidence to issue indictments against suspects living abroad and file for their extradition.

The top official did not give further details on target suspects or the countries where they live.

Last month, most detainees had agreed on settlements with the government authorities to avoid prosecution, while the rest could be held for several more months.

Saudi Arabia had detained 11 princes, including billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, as well as 38 former and current ministers, in a sweeping anti-corruption campaign.
