A tender of King Hamad Causeway will be issued next week, seeking consultancy services to manage the project’s transition phase, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport, Nabil Ala’moodi and Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, announced the news on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) 2018 in Riyadh.
The project will be implemented in partnership with the private sector, Ala’moodi said.
A preliminary economic feasibility study and initial design work for the project has been completed, paving the way for its implementation phase, the Bahraini minister said.
The tender will be issued by King Fahd Causeway Authority.
Work on the bridge, estimated to cost around $3 billion, will take 36-48 months to complete.
According to data compiled by Argaam, Saudi ambassador to Bahrain Abdullah bin Abdulmalek Al Sheikh has said recently that King Hamad Causeway's supervising committee has finished the administrative and consultative works of the project that connects the two countries.
