The Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with L3 Technologies to explore strategic opportunities in the Kingdom in fields of photoelectric as well as infrared technology and special tasks systems, Saudi Press Agency has reported.

The MoU will boost air and defense industries in the Kingdom, help both entities capitalize on opportunities of mutual cooperation, and focus on sustainability, training, manufacturing as well as research and development.

Under the Mou, both entities will establish a Saudi-based center to utilize these techniques as well as other advanced solutions in a number of client-tailored applications.

“Over the next ten years, the new company is expected to support these advanced techniques via research and development,” stated Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer at SAMI.

With headquarters in New York City and approximately 31,000 employees worldwide, L3 develops advanced defense technologies and commercial solutions in pilot training, aviation security, night vision and EO/IR, weapons, maritime systems and space.
