Registration of commercial contracts in Saudi Arabia under the Ejar program is still “optional”, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Abdulrahman Al Samari, strategic performance manager at Ejar system.
“Mandatory commercial registration under Ejar will only be applicable after developing the new system,” Al Samari said.
Ejar was launched by the Saudi Ministry of Housing last December to regulate the real estate rental market, protect owners and tenants’ rights, and control prices, Argaam reported.
The scheme allows conclusion of leases online using a standard contract, which serves as an executive instrument certified by the Ministry of Justice.
