The power grid in Saudi Arabia has witnessed a significant growth since 2000 and has reached 84,000 circuit kilometer, said Waleed Al-Saadi acting CEO of National Grid Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

He added that the grid includes 1093 transformer stations, and 3465 power transformers with a capacity of 424,000 Mega Volt Amp (MVA).

Al-Saadi stated that this growth aims to ensure the needs of all residents cross the Kingdom.

The firm’s five-year plan (2016-2020) includes a number of projects that aims to improve the capacity and reliability of the national grid, though adding 23,000 circuit kilometer to the network and 259 electrical substations, in line with the Kingdom’s plan to support industrial projects.
