Saudi Arabia’s Committee of Product Protection against Unfair Competition is set to launch an e-platform to receive complaints and requests over the coming period, Al Eqtisadiah has reported, citing Saad Al Hatem, Head of Technical Department at Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).
“Customs tariffs were raised and the customs threshold for many commodities including steel, aluminum and paper board were amended,” Al hatem added.
Non-customs measures for industrial commodities are being finalized in two phases. They include placing the quality stamp on a number of products; and registering some commodities-producing plants in the commodities list, in addition to the anti-dumping practices.
Last year, Saudi Arabia has established the national committee to protect products against unfair competition, which comprises representatives from 13 entities.
