STC to launch 5G services for corporate sector early 2020: CEO

Saudi Telecom Co.’s (STC) chief executive, Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Nasser, said that services of the fifth generation (5G) provided to corporate sector are expected to be launched early 2020.

 

STC has lifted the number of sites equipped with 5G within the Kingdom, he added in a comment at the STC media club meeting on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2019 in Dubai.

 

In June, STC officially launched the 5G service commercially in a number of Saudi cities, being the first operator to provide such service.

 

Al Nasser added that the business incubator “Inspire U” hosts 28 projects with investments amounting to SAR 60 million and a market value of SAR 300 million. “Inspire U” has also created 160,000 job opportunities, some of them are part-time jobs.

 

“Inspire U” is one of STC's initiatives to support entrepreneurship, innovation and projects support in the field of telecommunications and information technology. It was established in 2015 and focuses on digital innovation in the ICT field.
