Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is set to reveal a new terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as a logistics platform and several civil aviation operators, GACA’s President Abdulhadi Al Mansouri said.

The authority continues to develop the infrastructure of the Kingdom’s 28 airports, he said during the third edition of the Saudi Logistics Conference held on Sunday in Riyadh.

Passengers traveling through King Khalid International Airport will reach 10 million by the beginning of 2020, coinciding with the completion of terminals 3 and 4 development projects next year, he said.

Technology is playing a key role in travelers’ experience as it facilitates serving 100 million travelers per year, he said, pointing to King Khalid International Airport’s electronic baggage carousel which transports over 7,000 bags.

Al-Mansouri also said that he expects the number of travelers to increase with the increase of tourists seeking the Kingdom as a favored destination.

In July, GACA announced a tender for building a new terminal at King Khalid International Airport through the government’s financial portal Etimad.
