14/11/2019 Argaam

ACWA Power's Sakaka photovoltaic (PV) solar plant will begin initial operation soon, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing Mohammad Abunayyan, the utility provider's chairman.

Abunayyan's comments came during a review meeting with Prince Faisal Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Jouf on the latest project developments.

The 300-megawatt Sakaka project, Saudi Arabia's first solar plant, will cost SAR 1.13 billion.

In February 2018, ACWA Power was awarded a contract to build, own, and operate the Sakaka solar farm at a record-low tariff of 8.782 halala per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
