Emirates Airline on Monday said it will buy 50 Airbus 350-900 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, in a deal worth $16 billion.
"I am happy to announce we are purchasing 50 Airbus 350 for $16 billion," the carrier's chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said at a press conference at the Dubai Airshow.
“Complementing our A380s and 777s, the A350s will give us added operational flexibility in terms of capacity, range and deployment,” he added.
Airbus will begin delivery from May 2023.
