SATS cargo station in Riyadh to serve 40% of Kingdom’s air cargo volume: GACA

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said that the second cargo station of the Singapore-based SATS Ltd. at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh will serve nearly 40% of the Kingdom’s air cargo volume through connecting the company’s stations in Dammam, Oman and other Asian countries.

 

SATS will build its cargo terminal in 2 phases on a total area of 60,000 square meters to handle up to 600,000 tons of cargo per annum upon completion, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing GACA.

 

The first stage is expected to be completed by mid 2022.

 

The company will set up a purpose-built cold-chain facility for the special handling of temperature sensitive perishables and a dedicated lane for pharmaceutical products

 

GACA President has recently granted the second license of for cargo terminal services to SATS at KKIA, according to data compiled by Argaam.

 

The license was granted during the inauguration ceremony of the largest integrated air cargo village at KKIA in Riyadh. The village contains a freight services area and an express freight area on a total space of 275,000 square meters and a capacity of 1.6 million tons.
