The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and Golf Saudi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of a new Greg Norman 27-hole championship golf course in Diriyah, the companies said in a joint statement on Tuesday.
The golf course is designed as part of “Wadi Safar”, a new residential district, which is being developed by DGDA.
As part of the MoU, the two entities will form a joint working team, comprising specialists from both sides to activate areas of collaboration, while Golf Saudi will also provide technical and management services.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan, chairman of Golf Saudi, said: “This partnership demonstrates the ambition of the Kingdom to become a global destination of interest attracting international visitors.”
Diriyah is set to become a global cultural icon and one of the world’s greatest gathering place, noted Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of DGDA.
Saudi Arabia is making huge strides in the promotion of sports in recent years by hosting world-class events, including the 2020 Dakar Rally and the Spanish Super Cup.
