Assets of Saudi investment funds jump 20% in 2019

The total value of assets held by investment funds in Saudi Arabia jumped 20% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 349.5 billion in 2019, data issued by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) showed.

 

The number of investment funds increased to 607 in 2019 compared to 542 in 2018, including 253 public funds and 354 private funds.

 

The total value of assets held by private funds increased by 6% YoY to SAR 189.5 billion in 2019. Private funds accounted for 54% of total fund assets in the Kingdom.

 

The value of assets of public investment funds grew by 43% from the previous year to SAR 160 billion.

 

The number of subscribers in Saudi investment funds dropped to around 334,200 in 2019 from 336,500 a year earlier.

The value of assets held by money markets, as well as equity and real estate funds represented 92% of total public funds’ assets.

Meanwhile, the value of assets held by equity and real estate funds came in at SAR 114.5 billion and SAR 58.5 billion respectively, accounting for 91% of the total assets of private funds.
