Indian refiner Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd bought 2 million barrels of extra oil from Saudi Arabia for loading in April, Reuters reported, citing the company’s head of refineries.

"We will be taking 2 additional cargoes of Arab mix. We have got a mix of Arab light and Arab medium," R. Ramachandran said.

This comes after oil giant Saudi Aramco announced plans to raise output to record 12.3 million barrels per day (bpd).

Ramachandran added his company is exploring buying additional oil from the UAE as well.

Meanwhile, Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd is also rumored to have bought 2 million barrels of additional Saudi oil in a very large crude carrier for loading in April.
