King Salman bin Abdulaziz ordered on Wednesday additional precautionary measures to contain the coronavirus outbreak in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques imposed lockdowns in Riyadh, Makkah and Madinah and banned residents from leaving and circulating between the Kingdom's 13 regions.
The new directives will take effect as of tomorrow, March 26 at 3 pm and will last until the end of the 21-day curfew.
In addition, curfew timings were changed to start at 3 pm in Riyadh and Makkah.
Competent authorities have the right to extend the curfew hours or impose curfew throughout the day in those cities, or other provinces.
The decision will also come into effect as of tomorrow, March 26.
The curfew ordered by King Salman across Saudi Arabia came into effect on March 23 evening from 7pm to 6am, and will last for 21 days to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
Violators of the curfew in Saudi Arabia may face a fine of up to SAR 10,000. Those who repeat violation for the second time will pay SAR 20,000 fine.
