The inclusion of the Saudi Stock Market (Tadawul) in global indices helped raise the institutional investors’ transactions to 35% of total trading volume in 2019 from 28% in 2018, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) said in its 2019 annual report.

This will also contribute to increasing the efficiency and stability of Tadawul, the market regulator added.

Meanwhile, the number of qualified foreign investors (QFIs) rose 309% year-on-year (YoY) to 1,853 during 2019 as compared to 453 in 2018.

According to data compiled by Argaam, total trading value on Tadawul inched up 1% YoY to SAR 880 billion by the end of 2019 from SAR 870.8 billion a year earlier.
