Prices of 122 commodities in Saudi Arabia rise in April 2020

Prices of 122 goods and services in Saudi Arabia rose year-on-year (YoY) in April 2020, while prices of 29 commodities dropped, official data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, Indian cardamom recorded the biggest rise at 159% YoY. It was followed by US cardamom with an 82% increase YoY.

 

White cabbage and local potato saw the steepest decline at 10% and 8% YoY, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 25 construction materials increased for the month, while 13 materials fell. The 8 mm-rebar dropped by 7.02% YoY.

 

Prices of seven fodder and livestock products increased in April on a YoY basis.

 

For clothes, six commodities saw an increase, while four others dropped.

 

The four personal services saw a YoY rise in April.

 

Prices of four detergents increased when compared to the previous year.

 

Elsewhere, prices of all healthcare services were up in the same period.

 

Prices of one service under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation decreased in April, with the other one jumped YoY.

 

On the other hand, prices of one hotel and apartment service rose on an annual basis in April.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes grew by 2.47% per pack YoY in April
