Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) disclosed the results of the non-binding Expression of Interest (EOI) for Ras Al Khair desalination and power plant privatization.

Ras Al-Khair was chosen as the first asset for privatization as part of the larger privatization program of SWCC's production assets, overseen by the Privatization Supervisory Committee for the water sector of Saudi Arabia.

A total of 37 EOIs were received from the international and regional strategic and financial firms.

Private sector is expected to participate in the majority stake according to the proposed contractual structure in line with the market standard IWPP/IWP framework in the Kingdom.

Ras Al-Khair plant is considered one of the world’s largest water desalination plants with 1.05 million cubic meters a day of water and 2.65 gigawatts of power capacity.
