The point-of-sale (POS) transactions grew by 4% to SAR 6.8 billion in the week ending July 25, 2020, from SAR 6.5 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 57.5 million transactions were processed in the week ending July 25.

The POS sales of the majority of sectors increased during the week ending July 25, with clothes and footwear on top, rising by 21%. It was followed by jewelry with 12%.
Meanwhile, four sectors saw a decrease, led by education with a 13% drop.
Consumer spending focused on food & beverages sector in the week ending July 25, valued at nearly SAR 1.05 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafes with SAR 804.4 million, and clothes & footwear with SAR 704.5 million.
