The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, issued a ministerial decision to localize 20% of engineering professions in the private sector.

The decision falls within a set of decisions to localize professions that the ministry worked on in cooperation and partnership with the government entities and concerned supervisory authorities, to enable graduates with specific qualifications to obtain an appropriate and stimulating work environment for national cadres in the private sector.

The decision applies to all private sector facilities operating in the Kingdom, in which five or more workers are employed in engineering professions.

According to the procedural guide, the decision will be effective as of January 14, 2021 (Jumada Al Thani 1, 1442 AH) and include 117 specialized professions.

The ministry said that the localization of engineering professions will provide more than 7,000 job opportunities in the first phase, adding minimum salaries must not be less than SAR 7,000.
