16/10/2020 Argaam

Abdulrahman Al Fadhli, minister of environment, water and agriculture, said the government is on track to achieve its sustainable development goals.

The Kingdom pays more attention to sustainable food security, and started to implement the national food security strategy, in cooperation with the public and private sectors, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing the minister.

He added that the government focuses on the agricultural sector through enacting policies, regulations and preparing strategies that support small farmers and livestock owners in rural areas, so as to achieve sustainability and food self-sufficiency.

The minister called on the international community to take serious actions to prevent the aggravation of the food crisis, and to enact laws that contribute to obtaining safe and nutritious food.
