Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia saw a 34% year-on-year (YoY) rise to around SAR 33.2 billion in September 2020 from SAR 24.8 billion during the same month last year, figures from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that 292 million transactions were processed through nearly 614,300 points-of-sales in shopping malls, retail stores, and pharmacies.

On a yearly basis, cash withdrawals declined 10% YoY from SAR 59.2 billion to SAR 53.03 billion.
The withdrawals were processed through 18,600 ATMs in September 2020, and through 149.1 million transactions.
