The point-of-sale (POS) transactions dropped 12% to reach SAR 8.08 billion in the week ending Nov. 7, 2020, from SAR 9.15 billion in the previous week, according to the data issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).
Data showed that a total of 74.9 million transactions were processed in the week ending Nov. 7.

The Transport sector topped worst performers, with a slide of 20%, through SAR 428.3 million sales. It was followed by the Food & Beverages sector (-19%) and the Education sector with -17%.
Consumer spending focused on the Food & Beverages sector during the same week, with nearly SAR 1.26 billion, followed by Restaurants & Cafes sector with SAR 1.06 billion and the Clothes and Footwear sector with SAR 697.5 million.
