Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council approved, in its fifth meeting of the eighth session, the draft contractor classification system.

Last January, Ossama Al Afaleq, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), said that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs' contractor classification agency launched an updated system for contractor classification which was in the pilot stage.

The system has seven classification levels, with the sixth grade set for small and medium-sized projects. The system also focuses on the key achievements of each contractor during the last eight years at maximum, as well as its technical and financial capabilities when a classification is sought.
