The point-of-sale (POS) transactions increased 20% to SAR 8.65 billion in the week ending Nov. 28, 2020, from SAR 7.23 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 76.6 million transactions were processed in the week ending Nov. 28.

All sectors witnessed a rise in POS sales during the week.
Clothes and Footwear sector topped the rising sectors, with 42% growth, through SAR 846 million sales. It was followed by Food and Beverages sector with 29% rise.
Consumer spending focused on Food and Beverages sector during the week, valued at nearly SAR 1.42 billion, followed by Restaurants and Cafes sector with SAR 1.10 billion and the Clothes and Footwear sector with SAR 846 million.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with SAR 2.76 billion, representing 32% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with over SAR 1.36 billion.
