Nama Chemicals Co. announced the safe completion of the scheduled periodic maintenance work for Hassad Petrochemical Complex, which include chlorine gas, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, epichlorohydrin and calcium chloride units, according to a bourse statement. Hassad Petrochemicals Complex is managed by Nama’s subsidiary, Jubail Chemical Industries Co. (JANA).
The company added that all plant and production operations resumed on Dec. 10, 2020, and normal production phases were reached on Dec. 11, except for the epichlorohydrin plant, in which maintenance work was completed today, Dec.13, and operations will start tonight.
Hassad Petrochemicals Complex is expected to be fully operational on Dec. 15, 2020, the statement clarified.
Nama explained that it missed the previously announced deadline as maintenance work in the epichlorohydrin plant took longer than planned.
No negative financial impact is estimated due to the delay as company holds sufficient stock to cover the needs, it noted.
The company further indicated that there is no emergency change to the maintenance work’s costs, amounting to SAR 5.5 million, which is approved in the budget for maintenance work. Nama announced on Nov. 19, 2020, that it will shut down Hassad Petrochemical Complex for 22-day regular maintenance, according to data compiled by Argaam.
