Saudi Arabia’s new contractor classification system will end market monopoly and unofficial offices, Al-Madinah newspaper reported, citing Ahmed Al-Kattan, Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs.

The new system will help the Kingdom shift to full automation, with licensed establishments of up to 2,600.

Establishments can be classified under the new system, after fulfilling various requirements, mainly governance, financial solvency, technical teams and other technical standards.

Earlier in December, the Shura Council approved, in its fifth meeting of the eighth session, the draft contractor classification system, Argaam reported.
