The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) launched a leading energy audit project in 50 commercial enterprises across Riyadh, with the aim of studying opportunities for improving energy efficiency at these facilities.

These facilities will be chosen according to a number of technical criteria approved by SEEC, SPA reported.

The project will include a comprehensive energy audit of the commercial sector to understand its main characteristics and energy consumption patterns. This will lead to devising appropriate solutions, developing initiatives and enablers that contribute to rationalizing energy consumption and boosting its efficiency in commercial buildings.

The project will also seek to achieve several goals, mainly the design of a database for energy consumption in the commercial sector, as well as the preparation of technical models and surveys, and setting up an awareness guide that provides advice to consumers in commercial facilities with respect to the main procedures and practices that contribute to raising energy efficiency.

It will define opportunities for energy saving and the challenges facing service providers.
