The point-of-sale (POS) transactions declined by almost 21% to SAR 8.52 billion in the week ending Jan. 9, 2021, from SAR 10.74 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
A total of 81.6 million transactions were processed in the week ending Jan. 9.

All sectors witnessed a decline in POS sales during the week, except for Hotels that jumped by 14%.
Education led decliners, falling 60% with sales of SAR 62.1 million, followed by Clothes and Footwear down 33%.
Consumer spending focused on Food & Beverages sector during the week, valued at nearly SAR 1.25 billion, followed by Food & Beverages sector with SAR 1.21 billion and Clothes and Footwear sector with SAR 752.5 million.
