Saudi Arabia's National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) issued rulings on some criminal issues, said an official source.

A ruling of five-year imprisonment was issued against an employee at the Ministry of Defense after being charged with misuse of public funds. He was also fined and ordered to repay the funds to the state treasury.

A retired officer at the Ministry of Defense was charged with misappropriating the public funds. Thus, he was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine after repaying the embezzled money to the state treasury.

Some employees at the Ministry of Housing were also found guilty of bribery and were accordingly sentenced to prison terms ranging between two to ten years. In addition, the funds and properties they accumulated from corruption-related crimes were confiscated.

A judgement of imprisonment for terms ranging between six months to five years was issued against some expats after being accused of offering bribe to officers or state employees.

Some employees at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs were charged with bribery and administrative abuse of power. They were fined and sentenced to prison for terms ranging between one to 15 years.

Some employees at the Ministry of Interior were accused of bribery and administrative misuse, so they were handed prison terms ranging between one to five years.

Some Ministry of Health employees (doctors and administrators) have been convicted of administrative misuse and bribery. They were sentenced to prison terms ranging between one to seven years.

Nazaha confirms that it continues to monitor misappropriation of the public funds and misuse of positions in pursuit of personal interest, given that the criminal crimes are not barred by lapse of time.
