Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, approved setting up the Crisis & Emergency Center within the ministry’s system, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The center is concerned with the prevention of risks and adopts best practices in crisis management, as well as conducting full coordination with the concerned authorities inside and outside the system, in order to ensure risk management and the continuation of business and industrial production under any emergency.
The newly established Crisis and Emergency Center includes eight entities, represented by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Export Development Authority, Industrial Development Fund, Saudi Geological Survey, Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon), Saudi EXIM Bank, and National Industrial Development Center.
Alkhorayef heads the High Committee for Crisis Management, with the membership of Deputy Minister of Industry, Osama Al-Zamil; Deputy for Mining Affairs, Khalid Al-Mudaifer; Assistant Minister for Planning and Development, Sami Al-Hamoud; and the Head of the Crisis and Emergency Center, Ahmed M. Ajabnoor, in addition to a high-level representative of each entity from the system.
The tasks of the High Commission include providing strategic guidance, making regular decisions to minimize the negative effects of the event, approving data and communicating directly with the event management body, as well as high-level government agencies to provide them with updates on the event and seek advice from relevant authorities if necessary.
