Saudi Arabia will secure large quantities of COVID-19 vaccine from a number of sources over the coming period, Minister of Health Tawfiq Al Rabiah said on the sidelines of the 20th edition of the Hajj and Umrah Scientific Research Forum.

“Saudi Arabia was one of the world’s first countries to start vaccinations, with inoculation campaigns beginning Dec. 17, 2020,” the Minister added.

The number of new COVID-19 cases has risen sharply in the Kingdom over the last four weeks, and the ministry is coordinating with other competent authorities to enforce strict precautionary measures to curb the pandemic outbreak, the minister noted.

Al Rabiah recently called on the public to maintain the safety measures in order to control the spread of coronavirus.
