Here's what you need to know about occupational safety and health policy

The official gazette published, on Feb. 5, the national policy for occupational safety and health, which was prepared in coordination with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the related government entities, and in consultation with the representatives of employers and workers, to achieve the Kingdom's vision towards human safety.

 

The policy aims to develop the occupational safety and health system and enhance the protection of workers in the various workplaces across the Kingdom, in line with the local regulations as well as the Kingdom's obligations under the international treaties, agreements and international best practices that fit the Saudi labor market.

 

The policy is based on the following fundamentals: the principles of the national policy for occupational safety and health, the general and detailed objectives of the national policy for occupational safety and health, commitment to promoting and developing the occupational safety and health, organizing the occupational safety and health, monitoring the relevant performance indicators, and developing partnerships at the regional and international levels in the field of occupational safety and health.

 

According to data compiled by Argaam, the Saudi Cabinet approved on Jan. 26, 2021, the national policy for occupational safety and health.
