Electronic Payment Device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions fell by 6% to SAR 7.19 billion in the week ending Feb. 20, 2021, from SAR 7.63 billion in the previous week, reaching its lowest level since October 2020, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 75.59 million transactions were processed in the week ending Feb. 20.

The POS of all sectors fell during the week ending Feb. 20, except for jewelry sector, which rose by 5%.
Education sector saw the most decline by a 21% decrease through sales of SAR 82.6 million, followed by clothes and footwear, with a 10% drop.
Consumer spending focused on food & beverages sector during the same week, valued at nearly SAR 1.17 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes sector with SAR 841.7 billion and the miscellaneous goods & services sector with SAR 602.8 million.
