Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs & Housing compulsorily registered 100 million square meters (sqm) of white lands subject to fees, on behalf of their owners who are reluctant to register them in the Idle Lands Program, Al Eqtisadiah reported, citing Abdullah Alhammad, assistant of deputy minister for lands.

He said that the total area of white lands traded from the lands, subject to the fees, amounted to more than 55 million sqm, after imposing the fees.

This was the result of strengthening cooperation with government agencies, such as the Ministry of Justice, Trusts and State Properties General Authority, as well as working on supporting technical systems and unifying databases between the authorities.

The fee program contributed to the development of the white lands by its owners, Alhammad said, pointing out that the total land area developed and under development, for which ownerships were transferred, stands at more than 90 million sqm.

The total number of invoices issued by the program amounted to more than 6,000 on more than 1,300 lands.
